Info

“Virtual conference” is a replacement for the initial conference of the competitive dialogue, which was planned for March 2020 in Bratislava with the personal participation of the committee, competition teams, experts, and local stakeholders. As a result of the worldwide situation regarding COVID-19, the conference has been moved to the virtual environment. The aim of the conference is to provide the participants with important information for preparing the designs of the squares, as well as to visually introduce the area under consideration in the form of a virtual visit.

The conference is organised by the Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava. In cooperation with experts, they prepared video contributions dealing with various topics regarding the squares. Local stakeholders were also approached, and they provided their statements to the present state of the squares. The announced international competition attracted both Slovak and international teams. Four international teams managed to catch the committee’s attention the most and proceeded to the second stage of the competitive dialogue in spring 2020. They will introduce themselves during the virtual conference, and they will start intensive work on the designs for the new solution of the squares. These teams include:

  • Atelier Loidl Landscape Architects Berlin; BPR Dr. Schäpertons Consult (Germany)
  • Sadar + Vuga d.o.o. (Slovenia)
  • REHWALDT LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS (Germany)
  • Rusina Frei, s.r.o. OMGEVING cvba MINT (Czech Republic)

In the first stage, 23 competition teams applied for the open invitation to participate in the competition. Out of them, 17 teams fulfilled competition conditions and 16 submitted their portfolio of references that was assessed in the second stage.
